Group Overview
We are group four, in this group we have Jules, Bradley, Nathan, Dylan and Josh. We were assigned to create a World War II exhibition with the theme of citizens. So to follow this theme Jules created minecraft map of a london like city that has been destroyed by the bombing runs and battles of World War II. In this minecraft map you notice that at night there is quite a few lights. Due to citizens having to turn off all lights at night to hide the city in darkness from the bombers. Although a few citizens ignored this order resulting in the destruction of the city. After the bombing runs and the surviving citizens evacuated, the soldiers attempted capture on the city further destroying the city, holes and craters from the explosion had allowed the soldiers to create simple ‘trenches’. There is also a lot of places to takes cover from enemy fire, such as the rubble from destroyed buildings or the severely damaged structures. From the explosion a lot of plant and tree life was destroyed. Although oddly enough, the power for the city remained operational. Dylan decided to create sketchup model of a German house to display what german citizens had to live in. The sketchup model is meant to display the conditions of living in a house during the bombing runs. Like mentioned earlier citizens were ordered to turn of all the lights and remain indoors during the night to prevent bombers from bombing towns and cities. The entire goal of bombing runs was to throw the enemy countries into a state where they had to spend more time tending to the destroyed cities rather than the front lines. If citizens had disobeyed this, it would have resulted in the destruction and bombing of the city so the lights out rule was enforced very strictly. Bradley decided to create a website linked by a QR code, the website has information about World War II and the Holocaust. The website mainly includes information about a citizen’s World War II experiences. Josh decided to create a quiz with questions on World War II. A participant would need to have a bit of knowledge about World War II to answer these questions in the quiz. Also Josh had decided to create a find-a-word based on the german citizens of World War II. Nathan was responsible for creating an interactive food exhibit where participants and viewers can taste the traditional German chicken schnitzel eaten in World War II.
Reflections
Jules Tuazon:
I have learned a lot from studying World War II, but the things I learned the most about was the bombing campaigns and how a lot of towns, cities and settlements were bombed in attempt to throw an enemy country into a state of disarray, where the country would have a very hard time trying to manage a destroyed city and the war at hand. I have also learned about how much the Jews were mistreated during the second World War. Jews were taken away from their families to work at concentration camps or even sent to death by being gassed at extermination camps, German soldiers would then collect any valuables from the dead and sell them to help the war effort. Soldiers were even ordered to collect the hair of the prisoners to help create the filling for mattresses or pillows. I also learned that germans were not the only ones running prison camps for people, the Japanese military were allies with Germany and was responsible for leading the war effort in their area.

In the time length of this project I have gathered much information on the Holocaust and World War II, the key information I have learnt about the Holocaust and World War II is the Nazi’s and their mission in the WWII for an all-Aryan race which was a race with blonde Germans with blue eyes and perfect mental and physical health . They fought against the Jews and others for what they wanted but did not succeed. I have also learnt much on the demolition of cities, towns and average houses in conjunction with trying to eliminate an entire race. There were many countries involved in the World Wars of which they formed alliances, the Axis Powers and the Allies.
The Holocaust created great catastrophe killing thousands of people and many different countries including Australia found themselves in the war. Australia was in the war because they were in an alliance with Britain of which was an ally of many other countries who would serve to protect each other as a team.
Nathan Roveto:
During this unit of work I have acquired an extensive amount of knowledge on WWII, the holocaust and Australia’s involvement in WWII. The Holocaust was a devastation to Jewish people in Germany during 1933-1945. Adolf Hitler (Head of the Nazi Party) decided to kill anyone in Germany who was not normal or pure German, he wanted to create the aryan race which were a Nation of people who were all blonde Germans with blue eyes with no mental or physical issues. During this unit of work i also had the great opportunity of learning why Australians were involved with WWII. Australia were involved in WWII because Australia had a tight bond with Britain whom had earlier found themselves in war with Poland so Australia had to help since the two countries are loyal allies as Australia’s Prime minister, Robert Menzies followed British Prime Minister Chamberlain’s policy of appeasement and most Australians at the time were of English or Irish descent.

The things that I had learned throughout this project is mainly about World War 2. Also I had learnt about some of the background information around World War 2 like for example: When did it start and finish, what was the significance of the event and also the countries that were involved and invaded in the war.
Also I had learnt about what Germany was like before, during and after World War 2. Also I have learnt about the Holocaust and what it was, when did it start, how did it have an impact on World War 2 and also how many people died in the time period of the Holocaust. Furthermore, I have also learnt about exhibitions and how they can be creative and interesting and also what makes an exhibition to be interactive, which are the following main aspects listed below:
· The viewer must have opportunities to interact with the display of your exhibition.
· You must be able to function the activities and guide the viewers of where they want to visit in your exhibition.
· You also need to have the ability to make your exhibition attractive in a way, that makes a large crowd of people want to come and wanting to be able to participate in your exhibition.
· You have to also make sure that the user needs to have a clear understanding of getting the actual exhibition working.
· You also have to give the audience an opportunity to be able to discover things for themselves in your exhibition.

In this topic I have learnt a lot about the holocaust and the amount of jews that were killed during the war. Ive learnt that Hitler (Nazi Leader) wanted an aryan race so he wanted to kill the jews.
A lot of jewish families were taken away to camps where they are treated poorly. A lot of the jews died in the camps. Most of them were gassed. Many cities and settlements were bombed by the Nazis. The German soldiers would take the jewish’s valuables and keep them. The jews were taken to a camp where they would just wait until they would die.
All they would do is work and get given so little food. When a jew would die they would shave their heads and burn the body.
